Project Highlight

UPCI New Zealand Ministries

Only One Name

Goals

To produce a mobile app version of an existing printed Bible study. Must support multiple languages that are poorly translated by AI sources.
Ability to add new languages and updates without any user interaction.

Challenges

The client didn't want to incur monthly fees for hosting or servicing the app.

Deadlines

The entire project had to be designed, completed, and published in two weeks to be released at an upcoming national conference.

Convenience

The Only One Name Bible study app was created to make the tool more accessible and convenient to use in a nation where nearly 30% of the population speaks english as a second language.  Tablet versions allow two languages to be displayed side-by-side to make the content easy to follow for teacher and student.

Automatic updates

A key requirement of the app was  the need to push new languages to users automatically, but without incurring any service fees.  This was achieved using Firebase NoSQL and a few simple API calls whenever the app spins up.  New languages are added to the Firebase repository and downloaded whenever the local client database is out of sync with the Firebase API version.
